Data Collection

Tempo does not collect any personal information, browsing history, account information, usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry.

Data Processed Locally

When you use the extension, page content from the active tab may be extracted using Mozilla Readability so it can be displayed in a cleaner reading format. This processing happens entirely inside your browser and never leaves your device.

  • Extracted page text is sanitized with DOMPurify before display.
  • The extracted content is held only in memory for the current session.
  • No extracted content is transmitted to any external server or third party.

Data Stored on Your Device

Tempo stores only your local reading preferences, specifically your selected words-per-minute speed and chunk size.

These settings are saved using chrome.storage.local, which remains on your device and is not synced or transmitted elsewhere.

Third-Party Services

Tempo does not use any third-party analytics tools, advertising SDKs, remote servers, APIs, or telemetry services.

Permissions Explained

  • Active tab: Used so Tempo can read and format content from the page you choose to use with the extension.
  • Host permissions, including <all_urls>: Required so the extension can access page content on supported websites when you activate it.
  • Storage: Used only to save your reading preferences locally on your device.

Data Sharing

Tempo does not sell, share, transfer, or transmit any user data to any third party under any circumstances.

Children's Privacy

Tempo does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children and minors, because it does not collect user data at all.

Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this page and the change may also be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing for the extension.
